A control room is judged on a different axis from a meeting room. Nobody reschedules an incident because a display is dark, so the design question moves from quality to continuity — what happens when a source, a link or a panel fails, and how quickly anyone finds out.

AV-over-IP moved control room distribution onto the network, which solved scale and introduced a dependency. The design has to be explicit about which paths are redundant and which are not.

Continuous operation
Displays and processing specified for continuous duty rather than office hours, with the thermal and lifetime implications stated rather than discovered.
Redundancy
Which paths are duplicated, which are not, and what the room falls back to. A redundancy claim that has never been tested is a design assumption, not a property.
Secure switching
Where sources of different classifications share a wall, switching and isolation are part of the requirement rather than an accessory to it.
Operator interface
Control surfaces usable under pressure by the person on shift, not only by the engineer who commissioned them.
Monitoring
The room reports its own faults. A failure noticed by an operator is already a failure that reached the operation.
Maintenance access
How a panel or a node is replaced without taking the wall down, decided while the room is still on paper.
